Buy leather care products for bags: Here's what you should keep in mind!
Genuine leather is a luxurious yet demanding material that, with the right care, looks high-quality and elegant even with daily wear.
Bags made of smooth or suede genuine leather add that certain something to your look, allowing you to style yourself chic, casual, or sporty.
You probably already have the right cleaning products for effective leather care at home: You can use baking soda, cornstarch, or dry shampoo to clean leather without water, which is particularly gentle on the material.
The FRIIZ - N°2 Cleanser for gentle cleaning
Thorough leather care is possible within minutes with our ZOÉ LU FRIIZ N°2 The Cleanser. The cleanser solution comes in a set with a soft horsehair brush, so you can start cleaning right away.
If dry cleaning products do not remove dirt stains from the pores, you can simply apply the FRIIZ N°2 Cleanser liquid in diluted or undiluted form to the stain and work it into a lather with the brush.
Dirt and color particles collect in the foam, which you wipe away with a clean cloth to deep-clean the surface. The leather then only needs to be dried and impregnated again.
Protect your bag from dirt with FRIIZ THE BAG PROTECTOR!
Without special leather bag care in the form of waterproofing, every rain shower leaves a lasting mark on suede leather such as velour, suede, and aniline leather.
The sensitive material is highly absorbent, so stains show easily. To protect suede and smooth leather, we developed the ZOÉ LU FRIIZ THE BAG PROTECTOR , which creates an invisible protective layer over the surfaces of your leather bag.
After each cleaning, spray the BAG PROTECTOR onto the treated area in a thin layer to reseal it and protect it from dirt.
Leather Care for Bags: Your Step-by-Step Guide!
You can use our FRIIZ products for cleaning and waterproofing leather surfaces on both natural and dyed leather. The included horsehair brush is perfect for raising the nap on suede surfaces with a fine nap and can be used wet or dry.
Cleaning and waterproofing are also suitable for metallic coatings, but you should be sure to leave out the brush here. FRIIZ cleaning plus waterproofing is done in three simple steps:
- Apply some FRIIZ cleaner diluted with 4 parts water to 1 part cleaner to troublesome stains and work the cleaner into a lather with the included brush.
- Pick up the foam with a clean cotton cloth and rinse off any foam residue with distilled water. Then allow the material to dry completely.
- You can raise the nap of dry suede again with the horsehair brush or with very fine sandpaper if it looks worn and flat after cleaning. Finally, reseal the surface with the FRIIZ waterproofing spray and dry it again.
Expert tips - How to care for your bag properly!
For both suede and smooth leather, you should follow the care sequence of cleaning, drying, and waterproofing.
You can hardly go wrong with leather care if you follow a few basic tips:
- Pay attention to the pH value: Every piece of leather has a specific pH value that affects the properties of the material. Therefore, choose only pH-neutral cleaners that are non-corrosive. Aggressive products such as alcohol-based cleaners and glass cleaners are an absolute no-go for leather care.
- Use the right cleaning material: Smooth leather should never be treated with a leather brush, but only with soft cotton cloths. A cotton cloth is unsuitable for cleaning suede, however, as fibers could remain behind and flatten the leather's natural nap.
- The drier, the better: If possible, remove stains without water or vinegar. Instead, carefully brush the leather surface with a leather brush or a soft toothbrush.
What happens if you don't care for leather?
Whether it’s a mini bag or a women’s wallet, leather products develop a rough, worn look after some use if they are not cared for regularly. For casual styles, leather bags with slight discoloration caused by UV radiation and clothing are just right.
However, your bag will retain an elegant appearance only if it is cared for regularly and re-impregnated.
Conclusion
Genuine leather bags are perfect accessories for stylish and casual outfits with class. Our ZOÉ LU designs stand out not only for their extravagant design, but also for their quality.
To ensure that this remains visible for a long time, you should care for the leather regularly. The sooner stains are removed, the more effectively traces of water stains, oil stains, or color residue disappear.
Under no circumstances should leather bags be put in the washing machine. However, targeted stain removal on a small area can work real wonders when caring for your bag.
